An Ares Downloads exclusive: Neil Diamond’s Album: Hot August Night:
Neil Diamond calls out to the tree huggers “Hello out there, Tree People…” obviously an acknowledgement by Neil that even the non-paying tree people had a value by adding to the carnival atmosphere of the concert and were therefore worthy of his recognition.
He didn’t chastise them for being free-loaders — everyone knew they were freeloading. He merely acknowledged them warmly.
However, it was also those words that in my mind justified the actions of myself and three friends when we jumped the fence at the Western Springs Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand, a few years later to watch Led Zeppelin.
Did we break the law? Obviously. So why did we do it?
Well, at the time we were poor starving students who couldn’t afford the $7.00 concert entry ticket price. Ares downloads were not available.
As students — for us, $7.00 equaled 2 loaves of bread, 2 dozen eggs, a ½ pound of butter and a jar of coffee and bag of sugar for two weeks (Basically I lived on a variation of poached egg on toast for breakfast lunch and tea). In other words – the price of the concert tickets was two weeks food bill but I had serious conflict. From a higher power than that which employed the security guards around the Western Springs venue - my girlfriend wanted to see “Stairway to Heaven“ being performed live. The same song that my best friend in high school had played at his funeral. He was able to plan out his own funeral because he died of cancer and he had 6 months in the hospital just waiting and planning for the end.
Can you imagine me saying No? (Especially when we were staying at digs only 800 meters from the Western Springs Stadium fence-line.)
The peer pressure was to jump the fence.
Now imagine if we’d been strangers to the area and the four of us had driven there by car and stopped to ask a lone walker for directions to the Concert — ‘Hi, can you give us directions to the Zep concert please?’
Sure, the average citizen would answer – and then they would proceed to give directions.
Then we’d jump the fence and enjoy the concert for free.
Can you imagine the following Newspaper story in 1976? - “Person giving directions to Rock and Roll concert freeloaders gets 12 months Jail and $50,000 fine.”
You can’t because back then, jumping the fence wasn’t much of a crime.
So tell me: am I growing crazy? Or did The Pirate Bay case see the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms get overturned in Stockholm?
What happened to the right to give directions without being automatically associated as a criminal?
Here’s the link to the Translation of the Courts ruling in the Pirate Bay Case – now translated to English http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/threatlevel/2009/04/piratebayverdicts.pdf
Here’s the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works http://www.wipo.int/treaties/en/ip/berne/trtdocs_wo001.html. I challenge anyone to find a reference to “jail term” as a remedy recommended by the convention.
If the Swedish courts don’t fix their own mistake, the European Court has no choice but to intervene.

I can’t believe that we are blogging about Neil Diamond. The last time I heard him I was being driven to soccer camp by my best friends dad in his 79 T-Top Trans-Am. Which as you can imagine did not have a set-up that allowed him to play Ares Music!

I was out and about the other day and a song came on over the speakers in this house were we were and I stated that my dad would be in heaven right now because this is his favorite song. It was Sweet Dreams by the Eurthmics. Later that same day we were at home and my dad stopped by and he was talking about turning in his vehicle and losing forgetting about the cd in it that had his favorite song on it. He stated that it was Sweet Dreams and my girlfriend was shocked. Later, she stated that she thought I was blowing smoke but I really knew. She thought that I really knew my dad, but he has had me make him multiple cd’s from my Ares downloads and ALL of them have had Sweet Dreams on them. If you haven’t guessed it yet I am back on Ares putting together another Ares playlist for my dad that has Sweet Dreams on it

Neil Diamond is the King! It is great to get all the different versions of Neil from Ares Destiny but if you have not enjoyed him in Vegas then you have not lived!

It is so funny to see this blog about Neil Diamond. I have been a big fan of Ares and today as we were taking our walk around the neighborhood I head Neil Diamond coming from a backyard and as I log into Ares to get my own copy and I stumble across a blog about it! Nice!
Agradable!

Hi there. I have discovered that you can get music from any age. I have been wanting to get the music that I used to listen too when I went roller skating and thanks to Ares I am able to download all the music I used to love.

Hey - thanks for the Ares music. I am having the day of my life and it’s a Tuesday. My neighbor invited us over and I plugged my lap-top into his sound system so know my girls can swim in his pool and jam to ares music downloads and I can surf and watch them! Thanks for turning me on to Ares - it is better than I ever imagined.

Nice post. I had a similar day. I was driving home after a normal day at work and I was jamming my iPod when through my car stereo a song from last summer came on … Kid Rock: All Summer Long which made me think of how fun last summer was plus how nice previous summers have been. Ares allowed me to reflect back and have a moment … it was really good. Thanks Ares!

Great Ares post about the old stuff. I spend a lot of my time on my boat fishing and I love to have Ares music pumping through the speakers just loud enough for me to hear it. Mr. Neil Diamond is on my Ares list!

Today is a dinosaur Ares day. I am going to see the dinosaurs on the big screen for the big event of the week downtown at the IMax. Truly, I am not sure really what is going on, but I am sure that I will either, enjoy the show, or tune out of the show and veggie with my iPod and Ares music or record the show and post it on Ares. Actually with me there is a pretty good chance I will do all three!

Hi there. Today I got to work all day with my son. We had a great day, and actually listened to Ares music that we had both selected and downloaded from Ares. He is the techo wiz and I was able to come up with a good way for him to get Ares onto his car radio

I have finally reached the point to where I can start counting the days until I get to go home. Luckily due to the nature of my billet I have been stripped of all responsibilities so I just get to sit around and wait for the clock to tick. I do have access to the internet so as I wait I am using Ares to get all the music downloads I will need to my return home.

You will never try another peer to peer sharing software after you have tried Ares. People using Ares have found it to be a break through to sharing and download content over the internet. The amount of content you can download is not limited to only a few files; you have endless possibilities with this software. You can search you desired file and view the results. Once you are satisfied you can choose which files you want to download to your computer. People all around the world are now using this software to share files, why not join the group? You have nothing to lose but everything to gain.

One of my all time favorite bands is the All American Rejects. I just love their infectious pop melodies, their soaring vocals, and fun vibes. I have seen them in concert forty-two times. That doesn’t include the time that I hid backstage and waited for them. When a friend of mine told me that she got their new album through a free ares download, I was very upset because I hadn’t gotten it yet. I consider myself their biggest fan, so it hurt to know that someone had gotten the album before I could. I know that I will get it eventually, just not first.

I got a phone call from one of my best friends the other day, and he told me that he had just one a free ares download from their website. I had put off getting on there for so long because I wasn’t sure about how ethical it was. But I am starting to feel more and more that it is okay. I really need to get some new music as well. I will probably sign up later tonight and start downloading some new tunes. I hope that they will give me a bunch of free downloads since I am new!
